Safety First!

Our sport follows the 4 basic rules of firearm safety:

  • Handle guns as if they are always loaded
  • Never point the muzzle at anything you are not willing to destroy
  • Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target
  • Be sure of your target and its surroundings

Additional safety measures of the USPSA include:

  • NEVER remove your gun from the holster until instructed by a Range Officer or at a designated Safety Area; this includes when you first arrive at the match and put on your gear
  • NEVER handle ammunition or loaded magazines in a designated Safety Area

And when you are shooting a course of fire:

  • NEVER point the gun behind yourself; this is called breaking the 180 and we will explain it to you in detail before you shoot
  • If the Range Officer tells you to STOP, stop shooting immediately and remain still while you wait for instructions; please do not turn and ask questions until the Range Officer steps you through unloading and holstering your gun
  • Keep your finger off the trigger and out of the trigger guard when moving
