New Shooters
We are dedicated to having fun matches that are safe and stages that challenge shooters of all abilities. Our goal is for The Minnesota Section of the United States Practical Shooting Association to grow and be as competitive as any in the United States, this is not possible without new shooters, we encourage new shooters to come out and shoot with us, don't be intimidated, we all started out as new shooters and in time you may be a Master shooter or even a Grand Master but this takes time and dedication. So come out and play with us, I promise we won't bite.

New Shooters Mentorship Program     We are trying something new this season, if you are a new shooter or new to USPSA you will be introduced to an experienced shooter (Mentor). You will squad with this mentor and he/she will work with you during the match... The mentor will go over safety, gear you will need, what division you would fit best in, breaking down a course of fire (COF) and a lot of the fine points of this fun and competitive sport. We realize that this sport can be a bit intimidating to a novice shooter and we want new shooters to feel welcome. This includes youths that have a rifle safety certificate.

Keep updated on shooting events by getting on Bob Mills' email list, just send Bob an email and ask him to put you on his list.  bmillsuspsa@charter.net

MAPSA Member Requirements
You will need to certify that you are not now and have never been a member of an organization which has any of it's program, the attempt to overthrow the government of the United States of America by force or violence; that you have never been convicted of a crime of violence and that if admitted to MAPSA you will fulfill the obligation of good sportsmanship, uphold the constitution of the United States and adhere to the by-laws and regulations of MAPSA. You must provide proof that you may legally own and operate a handgun. Civilians must provide proof of prior pistol competition, a valid permit to puchase or permit to carry a pistol. LEO and Military are already approved. You will need a club member sponsor or club Officer which may include a safety test by a Range Officer. Youths must have a firearms safety certificate.

If this seems strict, it is because we are committed to the safety of our club members, new shooters and spectators. This sport is the most fun you can legally have with a pistol. Staying safe will insure it remains fun!

MAPSA_application  We will have copies of our Membership form at each match, if you want you can save a stamp and pay at the match.

WE ARE MOVED TO PINE ISLAND FOR 2012 AND BEYOND

We have a new host range for the 2012 shooting season and beyond. We are  renting range time from Pine Island Sportsmans Club in Pine Island, MN.  They have a great range that is perfect for USPSA and all kinds of shooting sports. We are very excited about our new host range and look forward to holding our matches there.

Still in effect for 2012 season
MAPSA Members that want to get credit for our prize table must be at the range no later than 8:30am and report for setup. Setup starts at 8am and you are expected to be at the range at 8am but we are giving you a loop hole, please don't take advantage of it. :) Anyone arriving after 8:30am will not be allowed to the range bays until setup is complete. So if you want to help out our club and get a chance to win a gun or some other shooting related prizes then you must help with setup and teardown.
This is how it will work... registration will be up by the club house and if you register between 8-8:30am and help with setup then you will get your name in the prize table hat... every match you get another chance. All members will have at least one chance, those of us that help with setup will have an extra chance for every match you work and shoot... it's pretty simple. So get up early and come chip in, this is a volunteer sport run by volunteers and made possible by the help of volunteers.

SCORING
I have a link posted on the new shooters section about scoring, I think that all of us should know how to keep score and this link is very informative. Read it and learn from it but by all means use it, volunteer to run the clipboard at our matches, there are far too many shooters that act like the clipboard is the swine flu, so next time we shoot if you never have scored a COF ask someone and they will gladly show you how.  LINK

About Us

MAPSA has been running public USPSA matches since 1980.

2012 will be our first year at our new host range,

Pine Island White Pines Sportsmans Club (PIWPSC)

We rent range time from PIWPSC and we as MAPSA members have no range privledges beyond our match days and are only tentants so we need to leave the range looking better than when we started.

We are having a prize table again for 2012, this year we are only having 8 matches starting in March, all you have to do to qualify for our prize table is join MAPSA and every time you show up for setup and shoot a match you get another chance to win a gun or some other shooting related prize. Shooters need to complete 5 matches in order to qualify for our tourniment.  You do need to attend the annual awards meeting to claim your prize.

Join the USPSA and MAPSA

We strongly recommend that all members join the United States Practical Shooting Association www.uspsa.org. This is the organization that keeps track of your classification and which rules we follow, all shooters that are classified are competing with other shooters in the same class. If you shoot at least six matches during the season and are a MAPSA member you will qualify for our touniment and prize table in December.
